City of Boston Library

McKim Building

Location: Boston, MA
Client: City of Boston
Architect: Pfeiffer Partners

Project Description:

The City of Boston is engaged in a multi year renovation of the historic city libraries including both the McKim Building and the Johnson Building.  As part of the Phase IID work the city has undertaken a program and conceptual design to rationalize the piecemeal data network infrastructure that has burgeoned throughout the building.  The current work has documented existing conditions and identified short and long term plans to accomplish a rational infrastructure that will support new technologies being deployed and planned for deployment throughout the library.  In all cases the historic nature of the buildings and the original construction methodologies have been considered and respected.
